Do you love yoga, but hate chaturanga? We understand, and we’ve put together a teacher training especially for you. Our signature Gentle Yoga 200hr teacher training is carefully crafted to bring you all of the benefits of the practice, without all the downward dogs. Led by BPY’s most experienced teachers, this program will immerse you in deep learning, yoga, meditation, and pranayama while giving you the tools to share your passion. 

 

This Gentle Yoga training is unique in offering a variety of practices that will be accessible to most people. We focus on how to adapt yoga to each body, so that everyone can experience the benefits it offers. Our teachings are based on current research and designed to give you practical knowledge that will inspire trust in your students.

 

This training is appropriate for students of yoga who have been practicing for at least a year, as well as yoga teachers who wish to expand their skill set. Our Gentle Yoga 200hr training meets and exceeds the high standards we set at Blue Point, and we’ve gathered and impressive group of teachers to lead you on your journey.

 

200hr Gentle Yoga Training details

In this BPY training, you will learn:

  • How to adapt yoga to the individual
  • Key alignment for foundational poses
  • The anatomy of movement
  • Restorative Yoga
  • Yoga for seniors
  • Mindfulness practices
  • Breathing techniques for calming the nervous system
  • Creative use of props
  • Teaching a hands-free flow
  • Yoga for a Healthy Back
  • Intelligent crafting of a class
  • Tools for developing authenticity as a yoga teacher
  • Practices for presence and awareness on and off the mat
  • Yoga for Insomnia
  • Chair yoga
  • Sequencing and class planning

This training course is registered with Yoga Alliance at the 200hr level. Upon successful completion of all modules, readings and homework, you will be eligible to register with Yoga Alliance, the nationally recognized governing body of yoga standards and trainings. This course is recommended for students of any level who have been practicing yoga for at least one year.

 

200hr Teacher Training Course Requirements

In order to earn your certificate of completion for the course:

Attendance is required at every session over the 9 weekend period.
You must complete of all reading and homework assignments.

$2450 Early bird pricing until 11/15/2018

$2850 Paid in full after 11/15/2018

 

Cancellation Policy


Cancellations made up to two weeks before the start of the training will be refunded less $150 processing fee.
Cancellations made within two weeks of the start of the program will be refunded 50%.
Cancellations made once the program begins will not be refunded.

 

Faculty

Sara Doyle (PhD, ERYT-500) is the program director of the 200hr and 300hr trainings at BPY. In her day job, she teaches anatomy to medical students and physical therapy students at Duke. Sara has a deep understanding of how the body works, and this is reflected in her teaching. Her anatomy lessons are informative, fun, and impart a understanding of how the physical body relates to the yoga practice. She also loves to work with pregnant individuals and their families as a birth doula and childbirth educator. 

 

Andrea Dixon (ERYT-500, CD(DONA) is the program director of the 85hr Prenatal Teacher Training, and has been assisting in the 200hr Teacher Training at Blue Point for several years.

 

Jacque Johnson (PhD, ERYT-500)

 

Linda Martinez (EdM, ERYT-200) With over 11 years of teaching, she has worked with “non-traditional” students, students over 50, cancer survivors and trauma survivors. She has Duke Center for Living Certificates in teaching yoga to seniors, yoga for cancer survivors and a UNC certificate in teaching yoga for osteoporosis.
