Anatomy Series
Blue Point Yoga Center is excited to host a series of workshops focused on integrating science and yoga. Our Anatomy Series is taught primarily by Sara Doyle, with contributions from Staci Bilbo. Sara has a Ph.D in Evolutionary Anthropology from Duke University and teaches anatomy at Duke School of Medicine. Staci Bilbo has a Ph.D from Johns Hopkins University and is an assistant professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Duke. Each installment in the workshop series will be a combination of an interactive lecture paired with an asana class that focuses on a particular region of anatomy.
When you understand the structure of your body, and how all the parts work together as a whole, then you are better equipped to understand how to keep yourself healthy. A major part of maintaining health and wellness is incorporating yoga practices into your daily life. These workshops will give you the tools to address concerns specific to your body through asana practice and a fundamental understanding of the human body. Each workshop is carefully designed to be accessible to those with a limited background in science as well as those who have had advanced training or education in science or medical fields.
The schedule of workshops for 2012:
- May: Hips
- July: Core/breathing
- September: Back
Sessions will be held on Saturday afternoons, 2:30pm - 5:00pm. An early bird price of $25 will be available until a week before a scheduled session.
