Whether you’re an aspiring graphic designer who wants to go pro, a student interested in a design major, a business owner who wants to design your own marketing materials, or a local activist interested in creating compelling artivism, this Intro to Graphic Design series will teach you the fundamentals you’ll need to achieve your design goals. In the six weeks we’ll spend together, you’ll not only learn essentials within Photoshop Elements, but also general rules around composition, color, shape, content, typography, and when to break those rules. In addition to learning these foundational and easily applicable skills, you’ll learn by creating your own designs. By the end of the series, you’ll have at least one completed and peer-reviewed image, designed by you and guided by a professional, whether it be a flyer, a logo, an ad, or creatively manipulated photo. Come ready to get your hands dirty with practical assignments and a range of image-making techniques. Students are required to bring their own laptops with Photoshop Elements software already installed (full program or complimentary trial okay).
