Express Flow

This class is taught by:

Sara Doyle

Sara Doyle (PhD, E-RYT 500) has a Ph.D in Anatomy and has taught anatomy to medical students, residents and undergraduates at Duke University since 2003. She has a thorough understanding of the human body and the anatomy of movement. Sara has spent thousands of hours in the anatomy lab and participated in the dissection of hundreds of cadavers, giving her a unique perspective on how the body works and the anatomical variation between individuals. Her yoga classes and workshops reflect a science based perspective and include the most current research available.

Sara has completed two 200hr trainings - the first with Sarah Trelease, and the second more recently with Srivatsa Ramaswami, direct student of Krishnamacharya. She has also completed a 300hr training. Currently, Sara is enrolled in the MBSR (mindfulness-based stress reduction) teaching program at the UMass Center for Mindfulness. She has attended several retreats and trainings and incorporates mindfulness into her teaching at all levels.

Sara's yoga classes are physically challenging and energetic, with an emphasis on alignment, anatomy and mindfulness. Sara provides clear verbal and physical adjustments to allow the body to discover each pose and each moment. Her goal is to allow the practice to speak for itself.

Vivian Haesloop

Vivian Haesloop began practicing yoga 7 years ago simply because she wanted the physical benefits of regular exercise, but she quickly realized the benefits of yoga aren’t merely physical. By 2013, when she first moved to Durham and began attending classes at Blue Point, she already had come to see yoga as fundamental to the way she thought about and moved through the world.

This past year, Vivian moved back to Durham after several years of traveling and practicing yoga on the west coast, and decided she wanted to help others discover how yoga could improve their lives the way it had improved hers. To that end, she enrolled in the Blue Point 200 hr Teacher Training program with Sara Doyle. Vivian’s classes are designed to help her students focus on the present, connect to their breath, and take the time to settle into poses and find alignment. When she’s not teaching and practicing yoga, Vivian enjoys spending her free time painting in her studio and biking the Ellerbe creek trail in Durham.

Ashley McCullough

Ashley's first experience with Yoga was in college dance classes where her teachers often included Yoga in class. The first time she ever did Yoga in a dance class she could not stand it. She hated holding poses for so long, could not get her mind to shut up and the deep breathing made her dizzy… so she stayed clear of Yoga for a while. A couple years later, after graduating from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor’s in Dance, Ashley found herself taking a little break from performing. Wanting to keep up her strength and flexibility, she decided to try Yoga again. In November 2011 Ashley stepped into her first Yoga class… this time, falling in love. After two months she signed up for teacher training at Yoga Bliss in Baton Rouge, LA earning her RYT-200 in April 2012.

Ashley loves the mind body connection and how every thing can relate to Yoga. She fills her classes with themes and puts an emphasis on intentions guiding the practice in order to keep your mental focus and find a specific purpose for each practice. Due to her dance training she tends to keep her students moving but enjoys finding still points, especially in balance postures.

Jacqueline Johnson

Jacque (EdD, RYT-500) has been practicing yoga since 1976, and after much coaxing began teaching in 1992. She teaches several styles of yoga, primarily Sivananda and more recently Viniyoga. She also teaches vinyasa flow, restorative, Vipassana meditation, guided imagery meditation, and yoga therapy. She has been an academic in health behavior, health psychology, and health promotion for 15 years. As an academic, Jacque has collaborated on research investigating the changes in brain activity during specific elements of yoga. She was also one of the developers of a 200hr yoga teacher training of a university curriculum as a minor. She has recently moved to NC from DC, and is excited to inspire others on their journey towards a fulfilling life.

Natalie Teichmann

Natalie Teichmann, MFA, LMT, CYT, CMA, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she received her MFA in choreography and performance in 2015. Natalie is the founder and artistic director of ANAHATA Dance, a New York and Durham based company focusing on site-specific performances. She completed her 200 hr Vinyasa Yoga Certification at Laughing Lotus in NYC in 2009 and taught around the city for 8 years before moving to Chapel Hill last fall. She is certified in Reiki; Vinyasa, Prenatal, and Aerial Yoga; Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analysis, and is currently pursuing her Alexander Technique Certification. Her classes focus on cultivating a deep awareness of the body at the cellular level in order to allow the breath to guide one's movement.
This one hour flow class is similar to a flow level 2 class, but a slightly faster pace. Modifications will be offered for newer students. Great for yogis on a quick lunch break!
